Born a half-breed to an elven mother and human father, Leesil was raised in the Warlands as an assassin, spy, and slave for Lord Darmouth, ruler of an independent province. Fantasy readers know what I mean. Feb 24, Miche rated it it was amazing. I really loved this book. As the second book in the Dhampir series i was pleased to find the authors went into more detail about the characters past while not over complicating things.
The writing made it easy to picture the characters and the world they live in. I was especially delighted at the way the main characters relationship progressed. This book might not contain any smut but it still became one of my favorites along with the others in the series Well worth a read if you like a bit of sup I really loved this book. Aug 12, Matt rated it liked it. Definitely better than the first book in the series, and the plot is starting to thicken up nicely. I think the next book is going to be a really good one. Maybe they're learning? They still suck at hunting vampires. Probably 10 times they almost kill one only to have them escape. They were dicks to their awesome dog, Chap. At one point in their vampire hunt, Chap, their vampire-detecting dog, freaks out.
Magiere assumes this is because he has to urinate, and yells a Extremely frustrating book. Magiere assumes this is because he has to urinate, and yells at him for several pages before finally deigning to follow him to the vampire that's about to attack Leesil. Magiere is among the most irritating characters I've ever read at this point. Typical chick MC stuff taken to a ridiculous extreme here. The only reason I haven't given up is that with so many books in the series, it seems like there must be room for improvement, and with some characters in the book pointing out how stupid the MCs are at present, the authors may be hinting towards future growth.
Aug 31, Casey Anderson rated it really liked it. This one improved upon the first. It kept up with the end of the first book which was more interesting and developed.
Still though, the weakest character is Maigere. It's strange to me that the headline character remains so under developed when Leesil, Chap, even random new characters like Wynn and Sgaile has so much more However I like them, I'm really interested in the side story developing over Leesil's heritage. And Chap as well. I was hoping we'd see more of some characters than it This one improved upon the first.

Actual score is 4. Some characters went in a direction I hoped they wouldn't, but alas, I'm not the writer and this is not my story. Other than that, top notch reading fun. Oct 25, Angela rated it really liked it. I Loved the combination of middle English type of background with preternatural beings. Who doesn't love a heroine who is bad ass and can fight and sword play. Jul 11, Jacqueline Lam rated it really liked it Shelves: fantasy , magic , mystery.
Better than book 1. The dynamic between the two main characters is delicious! Each of their personality is more vivid and stronger in book 2. Mar 03, Kevin Neff rated it it was amazing. Great Second book. Sep 22, J C Steel rated it liked it. I like the story and love the world-building in this series, but I must confess that I find the writing style a little stilted and the character development is sometimes hit and miss. Sep 19, The Abibliophobic Guy rated it liked it Shelves: paranormal , vampire , dark-fantasy.
The author s of this book can't write a satisfactory ending. This is the second book in the series, and the second book in a row, that has fallen flat on its face at the supossedly climacitc finale. What makes it even more annoying in this book, was that this addition to the series was infinitely better than it's predecessor. Up until the finale I would have happily given it four stars, it was only the flat, boring, uninteresting ending that stole the thunder from this book.
In the end, I felt The author s of this book can't write a satisfactory ending. In the end, I felt let down. A dissapointing Three Stars. It had more scope, there was more exploration of Magiere's ability and Leesil's past, there was more action, more intrigue and more This plot line felt a lot better crafted, it was more entertaining and until the ending would have made this series a big-hitter in my mind. The best part I like about this series so far, and I mentioned it in my review for the last one, was the way that Magiere is completely lost with her ability.
